February has one big moment, Valentine’s Day. When my husband and I were first married, and didn’t have a lot of extra income, we had an agreement that we would wait until February 15 to celebrate this moment. All the fancy heart-shaped boxes of chocolate were half price at Wal-Mart and that was right up our alley! (Today I would accuse my husband of forgetting about the love of his life if he waited until the day after. That’s just the way things go when you have been married for a little while.)

I don’t remember the exact year, but one time he bought me (at full price) a bag of the heart-shaped DOVE brand chocolates. If you know the brand, you know the chocolates wrapped pretty, red foil, with “sentiments” written on the inside of the wrapper. Some sayings are the typical cliches seen this time of year, some can really stand out.

One of these sentiments became really special to me and I have kept it for years. It has made several moves with me and has suffered some for the wear. I keep it posted on my original “Pinterest Board.” (The one with cork and thumb tacks.)

Decorate your life.

This can be done in many ways-with friends & family, with volunteering, with hobbies etc. I know this would be the perfect time to insert an advertisement for decorating services of Memories of Home & The Added Touch, but I won’t. I just want you to think about the people who have “decorated” your life. Maybe it’s not a spouse or someone you would normally give a Valentine’s Day gift to. Why not just send that person a thank you note for making your life special? They might just decorate their bulletin board with it.
