Spring  Event

March 27 – 31

Hello, All!

Just wanted to keep you up to speed on what we’ve been doing lately. We returned from “An Affair of the Heart” a couple of weeks ago. Wish I could say it was great, but the crowds were way done. It takes a lot of people to have such a large show be a success. I don’t know if people were in the mood to think “Spring” or not. Whatever though, April and I had a good time together. We had some wonderful food from some great restaurants and basically spent any profit that we made on what we experienced dining. Oh well, you have got to have some fun in life. Right?!

But, you can bet we are getting ready to get you to think “Spring” in the shop.

I did want to share with you a large project I’ve been working on. It’s not finished yet, but hope to have it finished by Easter. If not, by the middle of April.

I wanted to update the look of my dining room. The furniture is in perfect condition. We do use this room for all of our big family gatherings and I am so glad we have the space. However, 20 years ago I decorated in a very traditional style. But as the years have gone by, I have begun to feel as if it has become a little too formal. So I have embraced the “Modern Farmhouse” and a “Transitional” look. I love a clean, uncluttered look in these rooms. I love the informal look of the farmhouse style and know that I want to give it a relaxed, welcoming vibe.

However, that said, I do like a little more “edgy” look with some contemporary/traditional nods. So that’s what I’m working toward. Hopefully this summer I can finish this project by painting the walls a much lighter color as well as some new looks in my furniture.

This is what the dining room chairs looked like before I started this project.

I’ve stained the chairs with my black gel stain from General Finishes. Once again, I must tell you it takes a very long time to dry completely. I used two coats of gel stain. If I didn’t like the look of the black gel stain, I wouldn’t use it. But, I love it when the product is dry and think the wait is worth it. I believe it’s going to be great with the rest of the furniture I have. I haven’t stained the trestle or sides of the table, but plan to when the weather is a little warmer. There are fumes from the stain and it tends to give me a headache when I get too much of it in the area. That’s why the directions say, “Use in a well ventilated area.” 😀

Hope you’ll mark your calendars for our next event. March 27 – 31. We’ll be sending you pictures of all the new products in the next few weeks. As always, I’m excited!

Blessings!
